Tourist busted for contraband Viagra
Thursday July 23 8:20 PM EDT

SAN CLEMENTE, Calif., July 23 (UPI) - U.S. Border Patrol agents have seized more than 1,000 tablets of contraband Viagra being smuggled into the United States by a Japanese tourist who purchased the drug in Mexico.

Border Patrol officials say the anti-impotence drug, which sells for $10 a tablet in the U.S., was bought for less than half that price in Tijuana and destined for resale in Japan.

The Viagra was found in a tourist's suitcase when an agent at the San Clemente border station noticed that one of the passengers in the car seemed nervous. Agents also seized a small amount of marijuana and two pipes.

The tourist acknowledged he didn't have a prescription for Viagra, which he bought for $4,781.

The Border Patrol says it's against Food and Drug Administration law to have Viagra without a prescription.

The tourist and three other people he was traveling with were released.
