Michael - DSP Communications (DSP) looks like a great pick to me at today's price ($16), which is 12% off their recent high of $18.

Five trading days ago, DSP released earnings of .19 vs. .02 for the quarter and made some pretty strong statements about the second half of 1998 being even better.

The P/E is reasonable (25) and they picked up two "buy" recommendations from CS First Boston and ML.

Their business is chip making for cellular phones in Japan. With a lot of tech companies blaming Japan and Asia troubles for sagging sales, DSP is thriving there. Any company that can produce 200+% sales gains in a "depression-like" Japanese economy is worth looking at in my opinion.

Your take on DSP please. Thanks.
