Yousef:

You don't sound too happy on the AMD and MOT deal.

<<<<Earth to John ... IBM gave the copper damascene process to Motorolo as part of the PPC development effort. IBM is well ahead of Motorolo in process development.>>>

What you said is true but what you don't know is that ever since MOT has perfected the Cu process in manufacturing. Their yield is higher than what IBM can achieve.

It is great that MOT is exchanging the Cu process technology for AMD flash. With the 0.18um transistor and Cu backend AMD will have the world class process. As the speed approaches the Gigahertz limit backend ringing and resonances become very significant. By then Intel will have to develop their Cu process and rely on local interconnect. INTEL IS BEHIND IN THEIR PROCESS TECHNOLOGY! Intel is just starting to use C4. I predict Intel will eventually go to copper and LI. Till then Intel is falling behind further and further. Can't wait till Intel is releasing their aluminum gigahertz CPU.
