Colin,

Thanks! It looks like Connecticut never met a tax that it
didn't like...looks like they are right up there with Taxachusetts:)

So they have the infamous property tax on vehicles that Virginia
finally is getting rid of...any idea what a newer 30k vehicle would
cost in property taxes for Stamford? Also, is there a threshold
on the high end for the 4.5% on Gross Federal Income? 4.5%
is alot better than that old 13% state capital gains tax...that
was worse than California's 10% state capital gains tax!

I did check with a few realtors, an hour north of Stamford..and
the average property taxes are $4200 - $5200...does that sound
accurate to you? It looks like they have the property tax
rate of New Hampshire...only New Hampshire has 0 state
income taxes and 0 sales taxes! From looking on the
Internet...Connecticut looks like they are getting lottery
happy like Mass. with Powerball, Lotto twice a week,
numbers games every night, and instant tickets...shouldn't this
fund Public schools enough to lower property taxes? They
must have some very, very well paid public school
administrators, etc....because I found out that most towns in
Connecticut still have volunteer fire departments (unpaid).
Public school funding is a sore spot with me, as I took
my children out after Colorado's Democratic Governor
Roy Romer started going around to Public elementary
schools and reading fictitious civil war books about
gay soldiers...just in case any elementary boys were
thinking of being gay when they grow up and Roy
didn't want them to feel self conscious..also, in my
daughter's high school they did everything but tell
the kids to go out and get pregnant...because mom
and dad will never have to know about the school
getting you an abortion! So, as you can guess my
children will be going to private religious schools
in Connecticut! F.y.i., Roy Romer just happens
to be the Clinton appointee to head the Democratic
National Committee...so you can see what kind
of values he represents! Any chance after I move
to Connecticut of us getting rid of those two
liberal Democratic senators: Dodd and Lieberman (sp)??:)
Believe it or not..I used to vote the Democratic ticket
back before Reagan..then I saw how more and more
and more of my tax money was being wasted on social
programs and Public mis-Education and I found that
by voting Republican...I was voting for people with
at least some morals and more importantly, business
acumen for controlling spending!

I also found out that Connecticut lowered their gas tax by 4 cents,
bringing it down to 39 cents a gallon...added to the Federal
tax bite of 18 cents a gallon = 57 cents a gallon...how are
the roads and highways...looks like they should be nice
with all that gas tax :) Actually, I hear that Connecticut is
covered with beautiful and dense forests and plenty of lakes,
not to mention that I can bring my kids to the ocean alot easier
than in Colorado;) Hows crime? And can a law abiding citizen
own a gun, so as to be equal with the armed criminals?:)

Warm Regards,
Shawn
