DG Systems Tops 6,000 Radio Stations

Business Wire - July 23, 1998 06:17

SAN FRANCISCO--(BUSINESS WIRE)--July 23, 1998--Digital Generation Systems, Inc. (NASDAQ/NMS:DGIT), a
leading provider of digital network services to the broadcast industry, today announced that more than 6,000 radio stations are
now part of DG Systems digital distribution network.

The network also includes more than 600 television stations.

DG Systems digitally links advertising agencies, production studios and record labels to radio and TV stations. The radio
stations in DG's network receive more than 95% of total U.S. radio revenues.

With DG Systems' digital network, advertisements, music releases, public service announcements and news releases are
transmitted to digital receivers in the stations, ensuring digital quality from production to broadcast. DG Systems' digital
network also significantly reduces delivery time.

Advertisements can be delivered digitally in as little as an hour, allowing immediate response to competitive campaigns,
changing market conditions, and last-minute creative revisions.

DG Systems recently announced iAudio, a service to transmit audio using the Internet. This new service will enable content
creators with Internet access to digitally distribute audio to over 6,100 radio stations.

"The quality, speed and reliability of any phase of broadcast advertising -- from content creation to distribution, playback and
final broadcast -- is vastly improved by using digital technologies," explains Greg Schott, vice president of marketing for DG
Systems. "DG Systems strengthens the weakest link distribution to radio and TV stations -- as the entire industry continues its
trek toward 100% digital broadcasting."

Digital Generation Systems, Inc., has developed and operates both a nationwide, value-added digital network and Internet
product linking hundreds of advertisers and advertising agencies with more than 6,500 radio and television stations across the
United States. The company's fault-tolerant network operations center delivers audio, video, image and data content, which
facilitates transactions among advertising industry participants. DG Systems' URL is www.dgsystems.com.

This release contains forward-looking statements relating to the company's expansion of its digital distribution networks, the
demand among certain clients for digital audio video delivery services and iAudio Internet service, and future product offerings.
These forward-looking statements involve risks and uncertainties, which could cause actual results to differ materially from
those projected. These and other risks relating to DG System's business are set forth in the company's Form 10-K filed with
the Securities and Exchange Commission on March 31, 1998 and the company's Form 10-Q filed on May 15, 1998.
