Steve and Dave... You were probably right to buy at 1 1/2
Technical Analysis of ALTA showed that it was oversold on 7/15 and since then there has been a few buy signals (MACD and CCI after the close yesterday, for instance).
Below, you will find a link to a chart I created:
members.aol.com
In this chart you will see a divergence between Negative Volume Index (up) and Positive volume Index, during July... I have been using these indicators (with others) as some indication of future moves...
NVI is trying to address what the "smart, educated investors are doing" and PVI "reflects the general crowd of "uneducated investors = dumb money"...
When both move together, the stocks follows the trend... when there is a good divergence, sometimes the NVI will tell you where the stock is going... because smart money can weigh heavily on some stocks (a possible indication about this is that some share for ALTA have been trade with 1/64 tick which is not commonly used by the regular crowd!)... Future will tell ...
My feeling is that downside risk with ALTA is not big... Just IMHO.
FHG
Last note: On Balance Volume (an index of accumulation/distribution) appears looks as if it is starting to turn up...

I think we will be very happy with our ALTA. I'm also starting back into the oil stocks now.
