Top health-care officials were to testify at a Senate hearing Thursday about how hospitals - and more importantly patients - could be bitten by the Year 2000 computer bug. No government study has estimated a worst-case scenario for the United States, but Britain recently said the Year 2000 bug could claim between 600 and 1,500 lives there.
