PARTNER INDEPENDENT SOFTWARE VENDORS (ISVS) IN COLLABORATION WITH NOVELL
MONTREAL, July 22 /CNW-PRN/ - Several of Novell's top development
partners joined Novell's Channel Sales group today to annouce the
immediate availability of the Catalyst for NetWare CD Edition. Created
by six of its Software Partners, the Catalyst for NetWare CD Edition
program is yet another proof of Novell's commitment towards delivering
total network solutions, today, at unbeatable prices. Positioned as
the ideal NetWare add-on for small and medium sized businesses (or
departments in larger organizations), the Catalyst for NetWare CD
Edition product will include all of the components required to build up
a complete network infrastructure. All of the solutions are easy to
install, intuitive to use and, because they run directly on the NetWare
OS, are incredibly robust.
Tech Data Corp. has been selected as the exclusive distributor for the
Catalyst for Netware CD Edition, which will include all of the
following applications (note that these are NOT live trials or 'demo'
versions, but fully licensed, commercial versions of the products):
- FaxWare, a Network Fax, Broadcast and Fax-on-Demand system by Tobit
Software. Compatible with over 200 fax modems, users can easily send and
receive faxes from any application. FaxWare offers full support for both
NDS and Internet faxing. Inbound faxes can be automatically routed to
any workstations, groups or printers on the network (5 user, 2 line version).
- Maximizer, a comprehensive Contact Management package by Multiactive
Software Inc. (5 user version).
- WanderLink, an integrated dial-in/dial-out remote access server by Funk
Software. Features include dial-in remote node access to the network,
powerful remote control, ironclad security, LAN dial-out, and an
integrated Internet Gateway which offers multiple-user Internet access
through a single server-based ISP connection (2 port version).
- ServerProtect, complete Server Based Virus Protection application by
Trend Micro. Efficiently safeguards multiple workstations and/or servers
from a single console (25 user version).
- WebConsole, a web-based, single-source solution network management
application with Reports, ESD, HelpDesk, Task Manager, Java console, and
much more (Single server version).
- Replica, Combined Back up and Disaster Recovery software that provides
live file and server recovery by Stac (Single server version).
The bundle will also include special manufacturers' rebates from:
- LearnKey on NetWare related courseware on Video and CD ROM
- Osicom / DPI on 10/100 Print Servers
- Digi International on multiport serial cards and fax modems
- Cybex on Keyboard/Video/Mouse switches
- Exide Electronics on UPS/Battery back up units
- Micro House on technical information & support titles such as Support
on Site for Networks
Combined these titles and rebates have a suggested retail price of
over $4500, however until the end of September, purchasers of NetWare
3.2, NetWare 3.2 Enhancement Packs, IntranetWare 4.11 or IntranetWare
for Small Business will be able to purchase the Catalyst for NetWare CD
Edition for only $395 (Tech Data part number 059220). The Catalyst for
NetWare CD Edition is available exclusively as a bundle when purchased
at the same time at one of the Novell products listed above and will
not be sold as a standalone product. A NetWare license number will be
required to activate and register the Catalyst for NetWare CD Edition products.
Dave Trotter, Vice President of Worldwide OEM & Channel Sales for

Promotion is another clear message to the reseller channel that NetWare
is, and will continue to be, a superior NOS platform not only in terms
of network services, but also for corporate infrastructure applications
such as network fax, back up, anti-virus, remote access, internet
connectivity, and web-based server management.''
The six ISV partners were selected based on the fact that together they
could provide powerful business productivity add-ons that had certain
common elements. The solutions needed to: - Be server-centric
- Leverage NetWare's client-server architecture
- Be attractive solutions for Novell's Reseller channels
For Pierre Chamberland, President of Tobit Software North America,
the program is perfectly aligned with their goals. ''For Tobit, our
participation in this promotion essentially confirms our well-known
public position that NetWare is truly a superior network OS. For
infrastructure applications such as fax and communications, it should
continue to the preferred NOS platform of all resellers.''
Richard Hlavka, Director of Marketing at HiTecSoft agrees that this
bundle should be invaluable for businesses of all sizes. ''With the

Resellers reaction to the program is very positive. ''We believe that

program. It will offer many extra add-on utilities and resources for
end-users. Catalyst for NetWare also plans to have special weekly
promotions and drawings for free products on the site. Resellers will
be interested to visit the site as they will be able to register as a
source of supply for the CD, consult live sales leads, and download
specially developed sales tools. In order to register, resellers will
first need to purchase a Not For Resale copy of the Catalyst for
Netware CD Edition Starter Pack at a special price of $49 (Tech Data
part number 059221).
Each ISV partner will directly provide technical support for the
applications on the CD. Users will need to register their software
directly with Catalyst for NetWare before calling the Partner's
Technical Support hotline.
