James,

I agree with you 100% but you are knocking your head on the wall talking to these MSFT-Lemmings. They will hold onto MSFT stock like a boat-anchor.

Anything negative said about MSFT on this board is treated like BS and the poster must have some corrupt motive for posting it.

Anything positive on this board is taken as gospel and you must know what your talking about.

"Hear no evil - See no evil"

The intelligence level on this board is borderline James. You will notice that they will not answer any of your questions. All they will do is insult you and/or deflect your question. They have all taken the MSFT school of FUD and Propaganda.

Just thought I would warn you James.

Cheers!

Toy

Win98 is just a giant service pack for Win95 that Gates
is making everyone pay for!

Ok, Bill's out to maximize his profit! So What?, This type of add on is the life blood of Software co's. As to future profits, watch the NT "Tornado".

I see your point. But so what? We pay big bucks for software maintenance contracts for every other major OS (like UNIX). $90 to

two quarters ?

Gosh, I don't know. I didn't realize that their revenues had suddenly dried up. You go short. I'll stay long.

>People are hesitant to upgrade to Win98 because of all the problems
(some) people. Let's see how many are not hesitant. So far, so good.

>NT 4.x is not cutting in the server market ; doesn't scale, not as reliable as UNIX.

Tell Novell that. They will agree with you right up until the day they close their doors. UNIX is clearly a better OS with more scalability, but NT is clearly forcing it out of workgroups, where NT is scalable enough.

>Gates is spending large $ on NT 4.x/5.x?

Should he not spend? Lots of cash. Perhaps he is addressing the reliablity and scalability issues.

I seem to remember a news article during the height of the Browser Wars saying that the threat to Microsoft was minimal because 95% of their revenue was from products other than Windows 95. I'd say the same would apply to Windows 95.
