EchoStar Unveils a New Generation of Digital Satellite Receivers NASHVILLE, Tenn.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--July 23, 1998-- New Receivers Offer Latest Technological Advances for DISH Network(tm) Customers EchoStar Communications Corp. (NASDAQ:DISH, DISHP) will debut its newest series of digital set-top satellite receivers at the annual SBCA trade show in Nashville, Tenn., on June 23-25. EchoStar, the company that made satellite television affordable, unveils the 2700, 3700 and 4700 model series of digital set-top satellite receivers. The receivers are packaged with single and dual LNBFs and 18-inch DISH Network antennas. These new models offer advanced capabilities while remaining affordable and easy to use. Each of these satellite receivers offers access to over 240 digital channels of quality programming provided by DISH Network(tm), which provides CD-quality audio, crystal-clear video, an on-screen programming guide, and V-chip type parental control technology. Customers can purchase the following systems or receive the location and phone number of the nearest DISH Network satellite system dealer by calling 1-800-333-DISH. EchoStar 2710 System - $169 - The EchoStar 2710 satellite receiver is an upgrade from DISH Network's entry-level model, the 1000 series. The 2710 receiver offers advanced controls at an affordable price with the following features: translucent program information, front panel controls, an infrared remote control, an S-VHS output jack and a set of RCA-type audio/visual output jacks, flash memory for software upgrades via satellite downloads, favorites lists, on-screen program guide, theme categories for program selections, and other program guide features. The 2710 Model comes with a single LNBF that allows connection to a single receiver. It includes a DISH Network 18-inch antenna. (Note: A single LNBF allows viewing of one satellite TV channel on multiple television sets using one receiver while a dual LNBF offers viewing of different satellite TV channels on two TVs while using a second receiver.) EchoStar 3720 System - $219 - The EchoStar 3720 satellite receiver has all the features of the 2710 model receiver, plus a universal remote control and a new front panel look. The 3720 is equipped with a dual LNBF and DISH Network antenna that allows viewing of different satellite TV channels on two TV sets when using a second satellite receiver. The infrared universal remote control offers the convenience of using one remote control for four components -- the satellite receiver, a television set, a VCR and an auxiliary device. EchoStar 4720 System - $299 - The EchoStar 4720 satellite receiver includes all the advanced features of both the 2710 and 3720 Models. The 4720 model offers a UHF/infrared remote that can control the satellite TV system up to a distance of 100 feet or through walls and other obstructions. This provides convenient channel changing from anywhere in the house. The 4720 model also features event timers, giving customers the choice to record a show or tune into a preprogrammed channel when it starts. An IR Blaster is also included that allows control of the VCR so customers can record their favorite programs. The 4720 features an optical Dolby-Digital(tm) Output and two sets of RCA-type outputs.
