and now for some non-techs...

LWN - loewen group took a big drop yesterday.
they are the largest cemetary company in canada,
and 2nd largest in the united states. they dropped
because they warned about earnings...people are
not dying as fast.

is at 21 now. i bought this earlier this year at 21,
and sold at 26, continued up to 28. this is not
a quick one, it takes time, but they turned down
a buy out at 45 last year, and the ceo bought
a huge chunk at 24 earlier this year. this is a very
good value play.

ABF - airborne freight - has a trading range from 31-36,
and they announce earnings in a few days. they are
at 32 now. FDX had reported decent earnings,
i'm betting on this to go back up to 36. i bought nov 30s
at 4.5

hi A Kiri:

<<Mother of buy signals stopped working for the Indexes, but with individual stocks it is
still OK. I think it works in an uptrending market, but then what does not.>>

YES! in a flat to downtrend mkt, breakout plays no longer work so effectively. That was one of my findings when the mkt was down 4 months ago, and i tried to apply my same strategy for an uptrending mkt. It doesn't necessarily work that way.

Again, in the end, i only broke even after 5-7 trades. Not worth it.
