He didn't say to take the opinions to PM - he said spread the URL to the original post via PM and respond to it versus littering upteenjillion threads with copies of the exact same message. It's a pretty simple and reasonable set of rules. It curtails spam, not freedom of speech. You are making a poor argument by trying to rewrite history.
