Agree, LU couldn't (wouldn't) do anything before OCT. But couldn't they announce and sign a letter of intent any time they wanted to? This topic came up before, and I don't remember anyone saying they couldn't announce a deal immediately, just so long as the deal closed in Oct. Interesting that the BAY+NT deal closes in Sept, effectively shutting the door on LU to pick up BAY. BAY+LU would have made a lot of sense too. Actually I heard the other day that House considered waiting for LU, but he took the thought one step further and became worried that LU+BAY might force NT+CSCO to join up. He concluded that he didn't want to be on that team! (He also considered NT+BAY might force a CSCO+LU combo but figured it would never happen)
