Those photos tell only part of the story, when your out in the field and the wind gets blowing hot spots get going, I watched one blaze going about a mile an hour flames hundreds of feet into the air burning a swath for ten miles then the next day the wind shifted and a couple toungues took off in another direction and joined up with an existing fire. So if you got caught in that you would have been surrounded.
The fire breaks outside of town are holding so far but we have one fire 30km north of town and another 35km east of town. South wind today so we are ok but if it swings around we will be smoked in again.
Its day by day right now.
