most are Apple computer owners rather than professional investors in the tech market.

Which group do you think is responsible for AAPL's performance over the last six months, Richard? Without the former, the latter would still be sitting around with their thumbs up their arses, lamenting the poor performance of "the beleaguered computer maker" (TM).

I've come to a new appreciation for the bears on this thread, thanks to Alomex's consistent, clear, and thoughtful "opposing" view. He's helped me realize just how great Apple can be.

I agree with you that while Eric's efforts are generally appreciated, he's in danger of being considered a hack for the stock by losing all his objectivity.

what? I couldn't disagree more. Eric is half the reason I threw in my fee to join SI. He does solid research, actually participates in the quaterly conference calls, and backs up his findings with solid facts investigation. You can disagree with his findings, but he's certainly not a hack.

Phillip is way out in left-field when it comes to predictions. And while Eric's got a good handle in the cost structure of Apple, both are too dismissive of what realistic concerns about Apple.

For example, as Travis pointed out, the iMac will ship late in the quarter. That is a realistic concern that you'd rarely, if ever, see Phil or Eric bring up.

We could, for example analize the impact on the bottom line of G3s last december and PBs in the latest quarter to see what are realistic sales figures for a mid-quarter platform.

Instead Eric accuses me of making up my trade figures. I guess he hates the fact I'm relatively bearish on Apple, yet have made money on it going long.
