I'm new to this forum, but, as both a Developer, and investor, I thought I'd put my 2 cents worth. 3dfx has consistently designed products that met or exceeded the industry's expectations. Performance for all their chip has always been #1 (and, as you will soon seen, will remain #1). 6 Months into the life cycle of their voodoo2, we're finally seeing chips that (supposedly will) perform at the same level (with future drivers). Glide 3.0 will introduce strips and fans support in hardware, a technology which should more than double the polygon throughput of the v2 over both PCI and AGP. (Strips and fans send only 1 vertex per triangle instead of 3 for polygons, and triangle strips, which are the basic objects used by almost all 3d software). Banshee will allow 3dfx to directly compete with the likes of Matrox, ATI and S3 ,a market which is potentially far more lucrative than the niche it holds now. Quite frankly, I see this as one of the few remaining bargains in the industry. A company with a superb product, state of the art technology, and good management is a rare thing... So why is this stock so under-valued? The only thing that comes to mind is, total ignorance. many who Speculate ( rather than invest) in stocks know little or nothing about the company, product , or the industry they're investing in. Looking around some of the other chat groups, they talk about imaginary announced competitive products, perceived threats from Intel (who have a track record of producing below par products outside their field of expertise.. a field which they lead due to a bit of luck in history, nothing more). None of these people realize what 3dfx has done, continues to do, and will likely do for many years to come. 3dfx virtually created the 3d hardware accelerated market from scratch. They have a vision, and a plan, and are carrying through... very close to perfection, in my opinion. This includes both a realistic product development, and release schedule, a thorough understanding of their target market, and a vision of future products which will be even more innovative than what you see now. All this, while actually becoming profitable in a very short period of time. Don't be surprised if 3dfx becomes the next "Intel" in not so far future : ) Ok, did this seem overly optimistic or enthusiastic? I guess it did, but the truth is, this is the first company I've seen that deserves this sort of enthusiasm. If anyone here wants to discuss technical issues, feel free to ask, and I'll be happy to provide you with all the info. you want.
