conference call summary:

"we're basically at a loss. we don't really have a clue what we're doing. we thought we did but we are not sure any more. we'll continue shipping evaluation units. just in case, who knows. we can always write them off later. yes, we will need more financing. we won't sit here not knowing anything for free you know. geo, hucom, boeing -those were LAN. we don't do LAN any more. if they want it there they can fix the switches themselves. not much opportunity there anyway. there is only so many telescopes out there, you knew that didn't you?
we do SANs now. we don't know when they come but we do them. that way
there will be no revenue surprises anymore. what revenue? there are no SANs so there is no revenue. didn't you know that? we're an honest bunch. we tell you how it is. by now"

Ed,

<<Craig's point about hub products shook Ken up pretty good. Craig was like a dog with a bone. Not giving it up. Craig you were right on the money. Any more suggestions for these guys .maybe they'll listen next time.>>

The point I was trying to make them understand is that mis-steps like this have helped put them in their current position. They simply can't afford to sit back and wait for the market to come to them. This is NOT an "If we build it, they will come" situation. Ancor must correctly anticipate where the Fibre Channel market is heading, and have rock-solid, technically complete and feature rich solutions for customers right from the start. PERIOD!

Ken's statement about Ancor becoming a customer driven company is a really positive sign. That's exactly what Ancor has to do. They have to listen to what features their potential customers want, AND DELIVER THEM in a timely manner. Don't wait for Brocade to have an 8-port switch first. (Too late.) It's time for Ancor to attempt to regain a leadership position in this market.
