Not any more. The short positions for several that I checked in the WSJ yesterday are down, and in most cases they are very low in terms of number of days volume to cover. There are a few heavier shorts, but they are arbitrage positions on mergers.

I believe most of the heavier shorts day trade or position trade -- quick in and out moves. They get the ball rolling and then look to take profits.

OSX: JULY SHORT INTEREST FIGURES (NYSE; AMEX)

Here's this month's snapshot of OSX short interest, followed by a few thread familiars. I used WSJ's volume to compute days-to-cover ratios. NASDAQ figures not due until tonight, so GLBL N/A.

Entries read, left to right: trading symbol, # shares open July 21, % change open shares from June 19, # days' volume to cover. Bold figures indicate month/month percent gain. (Source: WSJ)
