All, on the subject of firewalls. Someone should try my theory and see if it works. I bet it does... Sean From a note I sent to Gary earlier... I think I have discovered how to make QP2 internet downloader work through a socks/proxy firewall. NAT firewalls should already work at your using standard HTTP ports for the transfer. I discovered this using a loaner notebook while at TAOTL on Friday. I connected to the NET and Had Netscape working nicely. QP2 internet download was failing to contact the site and Netscape could contact www.qp2.com with no problems. So I fired up IE 3.0 in this case, and no luck. Checked the settings IE 3.0 was configured to use a socks proxy server. I disabled socks proxy support in IE and re-ran Internet downloader and it downloaded fine. This is consistent with the behavior of several other microsoft programs including outlook which all seem to rely on IE socks/proxy setup to determine there behavior. Therefore the converse of this should be true and people with socks proxy firewalls should be able to configure IE for their firewall and GET QP2 internet downloader to work. Another possible solution would be to use the free socks/proxy winsock dll replacement from Hummingbird Software.
