Please,.. don't get me wrong! I totally agree that everyone must upgrade. The system we have for our in house computer SUCKS ....7 years ago it was our first system, the sales person sold our laison the package.. it was our first system so maybe he was a little naive or eager, for 96 years our dept was recording manually. Now there is new , improved, faster, operator friendly systems and we are LOCKED in because of budget restraints, and costs. All of last year we WERE getting a new system. The new company says we can change your history and records over to our system. They try and try and they can't convert the information. We call our current company..response.." that info is secretly coded, you can have that code for 15,000 or whatever $ was" Now the additional start up cost, cost of training personnel to a new system, early glitches, UCR reporting ( which is very scrutinized by the state police in NJ), submitting old reports and new systems reports together with no errors for 3 consecutive months before new system is approved by the state police to even use.

I am talking a small affluent community that has had 3 murders in 103 years of existence. Where our biggest crimes are usually burglaries and stolen cars and we only deal with 5,000 calls a year and these include a lunch break, or barking dog as a call. Also this town is only 1 mile away from Newark NJ and borders East Orange.

Nationwide, worldwide...there are several places still looking for the right program. There are towns very close to me that still manually record and looking for systems, and yes WE will upgrade someday. We have to, but we are talking USTI not IBM..if you ask your manager which company you will talk to, which do you think he will go for.

Sorry for such an extreme analysis and the long post but I tried to paint the picture why they MIGHT have pulled out of NJ.

I like the company and am long, just explaining why I posted what I did.
