As you recommended, I did listen to the entire call and couldn't help but be struck by the irony of the fact that, in my area, the audio quality was so bad that I missed parts of the opening commentary.

My favorite line, apart from the one you pointed out re: IBM is a competitor on quality etc. was that Lucent was "further down the food chain" in terms of the arena in which they compete.

Shane's prognostications still appear to be on track and so, of course, is the caveat he interjected to the effect that if Japan completely tanks (which, we are led to believe will happen if the Yen drops to more than 150 to the dollar and China devalues as threatened) then all bets are off.

Since I don't happen to think that that will occur, it's time to buy more LSI.
