jl, that has been my thought process for well over 12 months. glad to have you on board ;-)

the bottom line is that this is a nasty environment and it is NOT priced into the stock. it will be. but, when??? we go lower and lower and lower...

btw, the ONLY way to reduce cost is to INCREASE output. that strategy you mentioned has been their strategy and it hasn't worked. when the ONLY strategy available doesn't work... reward a company with a $6 billion market cap????? hello?!?!?!

..."The REAL challenge of the chip makers is to get yield ever increasing so that they can turn a profit at low selling prices. while many companies will do this (mu being one of them), it will be a long time before mu or any other chip company in the dram business sees anything but thin margins on their products."

If my evil memory serves me, in the summer of 1995, there were few people around who could see how MU, and the like, would see anything other than large profit margins on their products. I clearly recall 1996 EPS estimates of $7 - $9 per share, even higher. No one that I know of, with the possible exception of Joe Parkinson, MU founder and former CEO who had already been ousted by Simplot, saw this current downturn coming and stated so publicly.

The upturn in pricing will come as a complete surprise to many.
