MICROSOFT CORP's new Windows 98 upgrade is on track to match
sales of the blockbuster Windows 95 over its first three months on
the market, a top executive said. While Windows 98 is selling into
a far bigger installed base of users, the sales rate for what is
considered a relatively modest upgrade is exceeding expectations
of many people, even inside the software giant, said Jeff Raikes,
group vice president for sales and support. Windows 98 already has
sold more than one million upgrade units since its June 25 launch,
