re. IBM and copper, Lehman's analyst says IBM is now producing 100's of logic wafers per day at sub 0.25 micron, with copper for some chip layers. lehman.com Can somebody give a perspective on how significant this level of production is?

Typical full-blown production for a large fab would be in the neighborhood of 20,000 wafers a month. So, if true, IBM's copper-interconnect production would not be the full production output of a fab, but it does indicate that they must be having a least a modicum of success with it.

All,

We are starting to see reports like the one below relative to
recovery of this group.

biz.yahoo.com

Do statements (expectations of sector recovery 6 months out)
like this have any meaning? If so, do they have implications
for sector stock prices? Perhaps they are premature and we
will see a brief, unsustained recovery? Perhaps 6 months is
the timeframe in which wall street will begin to once again
be attracted? Are AMAT and NVLS the only 'sure things'?

Just wondering....
