NEW YORK, July 22 (Reuters) - Pfizer Inc (PFE - news). said Wednesday it has agreed to sell its urological devices maker American Medical Systems to E.M. Warburg, Pincus & Co., a private equity investment firm, for $130 million.

American Medical Systems, part of Pfizer's Medical Technology Group, makes devices for the treatment of erectile dysfunction, urinary incontinence, and benign prostatic hyperplasia. It reported sales of $90 million in 1997.

Pfizer also said it is continuing to explore strategic options for Howmedica, its remaining Medical Technology Group unit, but no decision has been taken.

Meeting was very "upbeat" . pfe said the earning report does not tell the full story and things are much better then the great earning report. report had currency effect.
