Elmer, <Fact is Ali that SPECfp95 is an industry standard Floating
Point benchmark.>

I will repeat the analogy once again since you still didn't
get it:

A half-pound hammer is also an industry standard.
Feel free to compare Xeons with this industry standard.

To translate this into our PC area, the SPECfp95
is a standard for different class of computers:
scientific workstations. If you prefer to turn
this point into a flame that AMD will never get into
the market of scientific computing, be my guest,
nobody cares (currently at least).

<There are power users out there who can take advantage of
the boost.>
Sure every home has a lover of quantum chemistry
or want to model a turbulence in your lavatory...

<but I have made my point that the 100mhz bus can
offer some users far more than a 1-2%>
Once again, we are talking here not about "some"
users but about market-dominating applications
for the desktop segment. No one is arguing that
"some users" may have "some" benefits. My point
always was that the majority of user will not see
those benefits. Do you understand the market
implications of "majority" versus "some"?

<I didn't want to pick a lowend .. type of
benchmark so I went highend.>
So you went so high and lost any comprehension of
what you are talking about. For your information,
the SPECint95 is the same class of benchmarks and
came from the same source - SPEC.org.
Maybe you simply tell us the truth that you
"didn't want to pick a..." because is it not in "your
interests", as you stated in some of your previous
posts?

"Low end..."
"Designers are leaving.."
Any more arguments?
