Edward,

<< However, I now feel we are getting very close in firing back at the cable companies. Just look at all the hype they have been getting >>

I have a long position in WSTL and believe it will see much higher prices. Nevertheless I do not share your point of view. Cable companies are not getting just a hype. Here are the facts:

1. the customer base is near 400,000 by the end of 1998
2. ATT is buying TCI and Timewarner is offering the wholesale to
ATT or any other LD company for their cable lines
3.Coax is much better then twisted pair for high bandwidth
4.Cable companies prices are much more attractive to consumers
and small businesses

These are the facts, not hype. If Baby Bells see it the same way I do they will try to buy cables rather then spending money on the ADSL deployment.

Eddie,

Re:<< My feeling is we have a very good chance of becoming the next high flying sector. What we need is too get all the DSL players out of disfavor with the street. Delays have crippled everyone in this sector. We need a lot of press and a lot of hype that the bandwith war between DSL and cable is for real.>>

I hope you're right. However, this sector has already seen it's high
flying days back in 1996. Can it happen again ? I don't know, but I believe the street will only reward this sector once they can see numbers with contracts or at least be confident of increasing revenue.
Yes, the analysts were all focused on the future, because that is all that matters with these stocks. This is what has me really wary of what happened to Aware. Westell did a very good job in the call explaining that rollout will happen this fall, thus revenues. Did Aware have similar news to report ? The stock action seems to say a lot. If ADSL is deployed on schedule this fall, Westell is in a great position and will lead the ADSL stocks. Amazing how after following this sector for so long that CAP was the way to go. Westell was right all along.

Regards,

Dave
