Chip - you list four possible options for Intel in the 3-D market -

-improve the i740 - IMHO this is very likely - but will not really matter.

-Buy someone - but who really competes head to head with VooDoo 2?

-integrate graphics into the chipset - again, IMHO extremely likely - however, think about this scenario -

how about at the time that Intel announces the i740 being integrated into the Pentium III (or whatever) somebody like AMD comes along and announces their next processor as having the TDFX Banshee core integrated into it? Can you imagine what the two products would look like side by side? This possibility probably causes people at Intel to not sleep very well at night.

Question: does anybody think that Rendition (now a subsidiary of MU and a sister company to MUEI) could become a formidable competitor?

They sure seem to have the right connections - a memory manufacturer and a boxmaker

TIA,

Y.
