Mr. A, very cool response dude. My son (actually me) just bought a car and I had to talk him "down" to reliable from sexy. For a few months I was a jerk. Then his buddy who bought sexy had a breakdown in the middle of east-jesus and . . . .no parts, no way jose. Number one son just had a breakdown and AAA roadside got him up and running in a jiff. The Old Man ain't so dumb any more. Probably a temporary phenomenon, but exhilirating in the interim. Think G*'s advantage will be more long lived. Kind regards, Mike Doyle

Mr. A,

Back in the dark ages (you know, the seventies!) my father owned a early sixties Jaguar XK-E convertible. IMHO, you can have the Ferrari, because the Jag was the absolute best babe-mobile of all time. Having said that, there is the obvious caveat that the %@$# thing hardly ever ran without a mechanic behind the wheel. The in-line six had three two barrel carbeurators (impossible to keep synchronized) wire wheels (could not keep balanced -- very awkward over 90-100 mph!) and typeical British electronics of the time (nothing ever worked when it rained.) I always said I could afford the car but could not afford the mechanic (or the insurance).

Of course, the cars he actually drove every day were Fords.

When Dad died a few years ago, he still had the Jag, but it had been neglected for a long time. My brother-in-law is now completing the restoration to 95% or better at more than $25,000.
