Great post, thanks. Know of any prices, dollar amounts, sales numbers? Maybe the Goliath has been hit in the head by a little David? PPM seems to be a sort of payback purchase or something. Just a guess.

Webdrone, nice summary on MRI of old. I am old enough to remember Tedchnicare and in fact they made a pretty good machine before selling it to Picker. I disagree with one thing you said. The Lunar arto-scan is actually a pretty cool device. As of last year's RSNA they (said they had) sold 60-some machines. They only coast about $400K and if you can scan knees all day long in them you got a profit maker. They are quite comfortable and you don't need ot have long legs. The dentist chair setup is far more comfy than any other device. IMO, this device is a serious threat to the tunnel MRIs and even Open systems. It proves the niche-ability of MRIs. Knees, wrists, ankles and hands, not to mention muscle studies of the extremities (my interest), can all be done reasonably well with that device. The other one you mentioned had sold only about 3-4 machines as of last year. Nice thing about it is it plugs into a 110 volt socket!
