One reason I bought SEG was that I was impressed by Shugart's career. I wonder if we'll ever learn why Perlman shoved him out. I've been surprised that this had so little impact on the share price.

Aren't you the same guy that was calling for Shugart's head?

FWIW I think QNTM has held up better than SEG *because* they weren't vertically integrated (and of course because of DLT) But it begs the question, are you free to take a better view of technologies (as QNTM did in buying and nurturing DLT from DEC) when you've decided to get out of the mfg game?

Gus,

A very eloquent post which I have taken the liberty of clipping and sending on to Al. I am at a conference in Penang and I must say that everyone I have spoken with thinks the whole thing is a debacle and unworthy of the company and all the people involved. I agree. It is too ugly for words and I am greatly disheartened by it. We have lost our soul in the heat of battle. Lord help us.

Best,
Stitch
