Counting our blessings.

A young girl in her early teens was suffering from a tragic disease that had left her mostly paralyzed and necessitated her being strapped into a bed that held her in traction because of the brittleness of her bones.

A pastor visited her from time to time with the intent of ministering as best he could to her in her discomfort. He had always found her to be cheerful even when suspended in her bed face down as was sometimes necessary, so much so that he found often enough that he was the one being ministered to.

The girl once told him that her favorite time of day was on those clear star filled nights when the hospital staff at her request would prop her upright facing the window in her bed so the expanse of Gods creation was before her in the skies.

It was then that she would use each one of the stars to count her blessings by. "But" she said, "there is only one problem with doing that"

The pastor inquired what that might be.

Her reply "Oh pastor, there simply aren't enough stars!"
