For those that are interested, an RCM article analyzing (in a fair amount of detail) the positives in the latest Q4 98 earnings announcement from MSFT, some of which MSFT is not even aware of.

Not only that every PC shipped from now will installed one copy of WIN98 ( the
predicted new pcs shipped in 1998 will hit 100000000 units), but the installed base
is much larger comparing to that of Win95 when win95 was released three years ago.

Let's say in 1995, total units of world pc is 800000000 units, and from 1995 to 1998
more than 200000000 units of pcs were sold, so the base is increased by 25% comparing to 1995.
