The SPX chart looks to me very like that in mid-October 1997 - there was fall to the 34 day moving average level followed by a weak rally and then the big crash. Several other stocks also look similar to then. You can see my chart on my website:

Other statistics I use (autocorrelations) also point to the same conclusion - ie a correction of the same order is a high probability in the next two weeks.
