Wow - those flames showing are just what was flaring up at the moment the photo was shot, that's going on and moving continually. I guess you'll lose your cabin, eh.

Yes, the sounds of fire are unforgettable, although there is a big difference between the Coast and the Interior - fire doesn't crown as often here and when it does it's a very serious thing. I've been within a hundred yards or so of it crowning straight up a hillside, and the roar is unbelievable. There is no way you could have run from that one, we were soaking each other with the hoses and praying, it just ran up the hill beside us to the top and died out, and our lines held that time.

The stench of smoke is something you don't forget easily, either. A long time after the excitement is over, you're there consolidating the defenses and soaking hot spots in snag roots or widening line with a cat, and the smoke is seeping up from everywhere. It gets so bad sometimes you can hardly taste your cigarrette.

The Spear holding up well so far today. There could still be a little selloff around the close, though, and then monthend is coming up as well. I still think there'll be shares around in the 1.30s before long. ....... cheers ....... macros

Just curious. why is it that every where you have been prospecting lately is on fire? Just co-incidence or sparks from the rock hammer?

I just about started a fire last week with the gas plugger so I packed it in and got an extension. But it turned rainy and cool lately so there is no hazard now.

Pilot I knew used to toss lit cigarettes stuck in a matchbook out the window of his cessna when business was slow. Always picked up a few ferrying contracts from the forestry.
