Look at the latest total of MBK's unrealized losses. They are in violation of JPN banking regulations. As of 4/15, Unrealized losses on investment securities were over 800% (yes eight-hundred percent) of net income. You know, the bigger they are, the harder they fall...
The party is FAR from over, LT. Go look at the 3/98 fncls. And they don't even release half the stats on bad and doubtful loans as required under US GAAP. Caveat Emptor (unless you're buying to cover).
You wanna bottom fish? Start accumulating HSBC Holdings (HSBHY). At
least they have don't have 2-faced mgmt., dragging their feet as they
hope things will improve by themselves... And we're not even talking about marking-to-market or off-balance sheet items yet. This is absolutely NOTHING LIKE CCI in 1990-91. And furthermore, at least CCI
gave you an honest balance sheet.
