Dow racks up biggest weekly loss ever

NEW YORK (Reuters) - Stocks ended mixed Friday after
a volatile session.

Based on early, unofficial data, the Dow closed with a
gain of 4.38 points at 8,937.36, but for the week, it was
down 400.61 points, its worst weekly point loss ever. In
the broad market, declining issues beat advances 18 to
11 on volume of 687 million shares on the New York
Stock Exchange. The Nasdaq composite index was down
4.13 points at 1,931.09.
