KH worked in Minnesota for many years before WD's recent debacle, didn't he?

Greg.

Your observation about Ancor executives is interesting.
I think there is a chance that the disk drive makers
such as Seagate, WDC, and Quantum might want to get
a piece of the enterprise storage market; supplying
RAIDs and DLTs in addition to disk drives. They have
some technological and economical advantages over the
current players such as EMC and StorageTek.
They have a better name recognition.

I think the change is driven partly by decreasing margin
and more competition in disk drives and by fibre channel.
Some businesses have reorganised in respond to the
growing importance of the storage market. Perhaps it
was just a coincident that the Ancor executives come
from the disk drive makers.

Louie
