James,
What do you expect the trading range in next week, if market is still bearish? (my hunch is 95-127 for amzn if market bearish, 110-130 if otherwise, of course it is so volatile and too many factors)
You talk of Vinik (former Fidelity?) who manages some fund and buy Amzn now, then he must buy at low and sell at high, then short and ride down, or you imply that he will make big block buy at certain time for short squeeze to make big gain? What happens to his strategy if some insiders/employees/acquired firms start to sell some of their stocks?
Most funds long/short or only some funds like BEARX/USRA short, the rest only long due to the prospectus to clients.
Thanks

The media industry is fighting to prevent new blocking capabilities from being included in sets that must be equipped with what's called the 'V-Chip'. The basic purpose of the V-Chip is to allow parents to block out unwanted programs by their ratings. The same technology can easily be used to pick off the signal that preceeds and follows each commercial. So, V-Chip equipped sets could very easily block out commercials or automatically cause the set to switch to another channel or a canned picture such as a pastoral scene of a mountain pasture or oceanside hoirzon with a favorite melody or radio station playing in the background (or your favorite stock symbol ticker with news capsules). The media industry is fighting hard to prevent it rather than giving the consumer the choice. TV, VCR and cable set manufacturers would likely find people willing to pay a few bucks more for something that they can produce for no greater cost than what it costs for one-time programming.

I want V-Chip ad blocking!

A few software companies now offer programs that will block out ads on the internet. Some of these are designed to block xx content but can also be set to block ads. AdWiper is designed primarily to block ads. The advertising and internet ad spamming industry doesn't like this!
