Mutually exclusive relationships.

Good morning JPR:

I don't understand this. On the one hand US says that US wants a strategic alliance with China and on the other hand US says not to attach too much significance to US friendship with China.

Perhaps they are saying the U.S relationship with China should be considered mutually exclusive with that of India and therefore one has nothing to do with the other and should be treated as such. Boy don't you love these diplomatic pronouncements?<gg>

I would not be surprised that over years India and Pakistan will accept each other and become good neighbors and friends like US and Canada. May be China will be in the cards in the distant future.

A remote possibility but a possibility nonetheless. I'll drink to that.
