But where is our money warehoused? It isn't at "any" portal...its at some designated safekeeping agent....our designated settlement point. That duty won't go to uninsured, unregulated companies, IMO. That's the FI edge Think about it Brian....just a minute...ok... But where is the ATM money warehoused? Don't ask me how it works, but it works! I'm a consumer, I want my cash available to me at this ATM, that ATM.. Got to pause here THINK ..I don't want to drive 90 miles at 2:00am to get $50 Bucks for last call! If that money can be made available to me now...at an ATM under those conditions, I'll get it at home too, also, more then enough, JUST LIKE I WANT IT, prefer IT....under those conditions. As we are talking about here...to pay bills...IF....I...deem it..... Make IT SO, Number 1! This is all so clear to me, am I the only screwed up dude in here?

That's why you will always have depository institutions keeping the master books of how much is in your account and what transactions have transpired. The depository can be a bank, a money market fund, a mutual fund, a credit union or some other financial repository. However this can be at any distance. Look at NTBK with no tellers and no bank building. You may very well have that depository relationship with a mutual fund company in Sri Lanka or Israel if you can get a better interest rate there.
