Yakov,
I'm not sure they did announce but they've been DeltaSTE users for
some time now and I had heard they had a rubber-band deal on Fusion.
I heard at a recent trade show that SPIL had bought one.

I can't say if TDFX test requirements are any different than the rest
of their competitors. As to their future and the future of the
others competing in this market, the big problem will be Intel and
the deals they'll probably be making on the i740. There was a recent
article in the Chronicle (June 3rd, Tom Abate, Personal Technology)
about 3D companies and Intel and the allegation that
Intel was bullying their way into the 3D marketplace by bundling their 3D products with their processors. If you've a motherboard
manufacturer in Taiwan and Intel bundles the i740 along with the
P2 your probably going to put in on the motherboard. If there is a
3D accelerator already on the motherboard, albeit not as powerful as
the TDFX offering, you don't or won't buy a TDFX add-on card.
This could be a big problem for TDFX and any other player in the
3D market. Things will probably be pretty slow for TDFX until the
PC marketplace rebounds and when it does they better have products
that are significantly better than their competition from a cost and
performance basis.

As to Vitesse, they're the only game in town for many of the ATE
companies. Schlumberger probably has the inside track for supplying
the Intel demand. This may be a problem for those smaller guys
like LTX trying to get enough GaAs devices. Vitesse has big plans
to grow to support this demand but there could be a bottleneck for
awhile. To the best of my knowledge, Teradyne has backed away from
GaAs for their new products and therefore won't be effected by a
supply problem in this area.
