Has Intel's management told you they're pulling punches? If they are, where is their response to 3DNow?

Do you really think the consumer market is going to wait around for KNI when it will be introduced nine months after 3DNow and then only is Intel's highest end and most expensive processors? It will be at least this time next year (probably longer) before KNI hits a price point that's reasonable for the consumer market. Until then, all Intel has to offer is the brain dead 128k Celeron.

Intel's management isn't claiming that it's pulling punches. In fact, they're doing everything they can to accelerate their product schedule so they don't have to cede the ENTIRE consumer market to AMD and NSM. To a certain extent they've been successful, advancing the introduction dates of Mendocino and Katmai. But Merced has slipped and Xeon's turned out buggy, so net-net, where's the gain?
