Jim,

I was thinking more on the lines of long term indices. Some thing
new to replace the fixed-stock common indices, from the DOW to the
Russell 3000, which are all fixed with specific stocks.

I would like to see a NEW news wire such as Bloomberg, whom I respect BTW, start one.. IMO, the old wires, have too much of a vested interest to change.. With all the computer-power now, a new fluid dynamic index could be constructed back to the time those guys first tried to hoodwink each other under that tree..

As far a intraday short-term indicators go, I've deveolped some
that are very effective giving short term turning points.. They
are a combination of volune, MV, Beta, and Price of course. They
can not see into the fuure, but do give me enough time to make
a index futures trade or to sometimes take a options position. I look at 1',3',5',15', & 60' bars RT. Right now, 5'&15' seems the best for a couple of days look.. and they are about in-sync.. which is little
weird, because shorter time frame are usually faster and choppier..

BTW, they are still Negative, but at a TP for either another down-leg
or a rally attempt.. One hour after the open on Monday could give me
a direction..

I can't seem to market time my type of stocks with my indicators..
Right now, I have a few big ones I'm holding on to and I do trade
the small internets...plus IPOS and a myriad of penny golds...

Good luck.. the Coug.

Jim: I just looked at T and IBM- they can double from here to match the price-to-sales of GE. If yardeni's year 2000 recession predictions are correct then everything except IBM will crumble away, leaving IBM like the core of an extinct volcano - it will suck money from all the other big-caps to fix the problems it created at someone else's expense. -ggg-
