I said I never looked at Borders or any others because I didn't think it matters. First of all, i don't buy books online to save money. I buy because they have them. That is the single most important point!
I would rather pay shipping than deal we don't have it, let me see if i can order it, and check back in 2 weeks or will call you when we get it in.

I guess when amzn doesn't have the book i want then I'll look elsewhere, I'll try Barnes and Noble first.

"Higher income shopper" hardly not. I'm tired of "we don't carry it!!!'

The difference between Amazon.com's book prices and several other sources on the net is 20% to 40%. For a $30 book it is about $8 to $13.

Here is one example at Bargain Computer Books (Amazon's most popular book category):

bargaincomputerbooks.com

They reference Amazon's corresponding page at the bottom of their pages because they aren't shy about the price differnce:

amazon.com

The price at Bargain Computer Books is $19.97 compared to Amazon's rip-off price of $31.96 - a difference of $11.99 or 37.5%!!!

Look up some other books or search to other sites and you will be able to find similar prices all over. Conclusion: Amazon.com is high priced. Maybe many buyers don't mind paying 20% to 40% more for all but feature books or special deals, but many, like myself do.

Borders in particular has had over a dozen books I
bought "in stock/for immediate shipping" when AMZN said "hard to find" or "ships in 2
to 3 weeks."

I have found this to be true too. It likely has something to do with Borders carrying real inventory and not relying on a jobber.
