go to alta vista and type in the following

"+virus +myth"

or type in "Good times Virus" and do a search this will bring you to a page that explains these scams and how they are not true.

The only way you can get a virus is to download something and run it.

Usually these virus's just corrup the boot sector on you HD.

Most likely the virus, if there is one, comes from downloading the file that is to "protect" your computer.

This scam happens all of the time. "Here you need this software to protect your computer from this virus"

the victim downloads the program, runs it, and the virus is put on their computer.

Read the myths folks. You can't be emailed a virus. (it could be an attachment, but, if you get an attached file from an unknown, dump it, send a reply, ask what it was.

Or, copy to disk, and virus scan it.
