Paul,
RE:"I would bet that the "shortage" is merely a "hole" in the inventory pipeline resulting from distributors NOT PLACING LARGE ORDERS for Intel CPUS in anticipation of the upcoming Intel price cuts."

I thought that fact had already been established and was the cause of a recent run up in the price of Pentium IIs. You don't think the shortage of Pentium IIs and Celerons will cause people to switch to the K6 do you, where supplies are good?
Jim

Paul:

I have been trying to purchase CPUS for two weeks and cannot get them. There is definitely a shortage at this time, and I think it has to do with Intel's inventory system. Rumor has it that inventory has been taking place for two weeks and that CPUS were not shipping until the final figures were done.

FWIW...go INTC!
