Ny point is; 1) The various Unix OSs are more expensive than MSFT's 2) Even if you consider Win 98 a patch (which of course it is not), once you make an apples to apples comparison to Unix patches (as part of the whole package) it is more than a bargain. 3) Unsupported software is not for the casual home user (they can't dig and find a workaround), which is the target market for Win 98. Thus any comparison to downloadable, unsupported patches and Win 98 are illogical. <I still don't see your point. This all started in response to an assertion that patches for Unix (and particularly Solaris) weren't available without paying a monthly fee. That's not the case.< Can you say the same for supported patches. 99% of Microsoft's softwaer is supported by the company in some form or fashion. Are you comparing Unix to 1% of MSFT's portfolio of products?

That's not the case.>> No, this started because you have to pay for Win98 and you feel this was a patch so it should be free. Want you believe to be a patch another may consider it an upgrade. There are patches on Microsoft's site for Win 95 that are free. I've used some of them. So Sun has patches for free same as Microsoft. <<I understand over a million people have paid $89 +/- apiece in the past few weeks to get patches to MSFT's desktop OS. >> Same as I do and many more users of Sun do monthly, except we pay 1,000s of dollars a month whether there are any patches that month or not. I guess you just want to dump on Microsoft. Thank you JK
