B & N's site has gotten very slick compared to what is was just a couple of months ago. The database servers have obviously been improved - very fast and almost as worthwhile as Amazon's. B & N has shown improvement both structurally and strategically. I expect that within six months they will be head-head or superior to Amazon.com and will probably have a few unique features that Amazon can't match.

I think that B & N and Borders can expand greatly in tying their neighborhood stores into the internet. The "internet neighborhood" idea were each store would have a video-cam and large screen TV set-up to simulcast interviews and book readings with major authors might be worthwhile. Oh well, they are doing the most important things to get up to competition with Amazon.com already - that stuff can wait.
