I guess I misinterpreted your intent in the opening, but I can see upon further explanation what it is specifically that you're trying to avoid with this thread.

For the record then, the symbol is SSTI.

I've not done the DD on it that you've suggested with your own questions in relationship to any stock in general. I suppose the only reason I even looked into it was because in was mentioned on the Nightly Business Report as having a substantial one day gain. The stock has since fallen back down to what it was at prior to the news release which sent the stock up and onto the radar screen in the first place.

Ever since an initial question to the AOL board in late '96 or early '97 about a little followed stock named Mind Spring, I've never since been able to pick a potential long term winner. SSTI appears to have all of the earmarks of a value play (in so much as I understand what a value play is), but its ROE and ROA are scarring me off for the time being. This is the closest I've ever come to seeing a security selling at darn near its book value.

While I'm speaking of value, I would appreciate a link or two to a site which can tell me how to figure such things as value and also the forward looking P/E based on future earnings.

BTW, Kerry, its kind of nice to see a thread in the coffee shop for a change which actually has some meat to it.
